Book Review of
Women for Victory

By Katy Endruschat Goebel

This book is a great way to honor the many American servicewomen from World War II. Their sacrifice mostly goes unnoticed and the information here talks about their history and the types of uniforms they wore. The design of special badges, emblems, service bars and pins are shown throughout the book.

All the information given was carefully researched to provide an factual accounting of the part of service women in our history. Their pay and rank as compared to men was far different. As you may gather it was lower of course. The women were often put in terrible situations and the courage they developed enabled them to endure and become stronger. All of this makes fascinating reading and makes you appreciate so much more all the sacrifices they made in defense of protecting and honoring our country.

Women from the Army Nurse Corps, navy Nurse Corps, Army Hospital Dietitians and Army physical Therapists are all honored in this book. Archival photos along with a lady modeling the uniforms, gives you a feeling in the lives of these women.

This massive 9” x 11 ¾” hardback book will enlighten you on the roles these unknown, but very important women played in obtaining the victory in World War II. The book retails for $89.99. It has 360 pages full of color and black & white photos to substantiate the life and history of these military women.
