A Century of Fashion: Dress Pattern Illustrations 1898 – 1997

The book highlights the art work and types of lady’s outfits that appeared on the covers of pattern packages. There are six chapters that list the time periods and types of influences that affected the fashion styles.  Chapter One covers pre 1920 with the influence of World War I. Chapter Two is 1920 to 1929 with the birth of Art Deco. Chapter Three is 1930 to 1939 with the Depression and Hollywood affecting fashion. Chapter Four 1940 to 1949 covering wartime government and Dior’s new look; Chapter Five is 1950 to 1959 with the influence of television; and Chapter Six is post 1959 with youn English mod designers and Princess Diana.

The 11” x 8 ½” softbound book has 160 pages and retails for $29.99. There are over 345 black & white and color pattern fronts pictured in the book.
